Desserts You Need To Try! -Guest Blogger Anna

Hey Guys! It’s Anna! It’s been so long since I’ve last posted…oops

For my sweet tooth people, or people that are craving something sweet now and then. Here are my top 5 desserts to try right now are from Cafe Princess, Pastel Creperie & Dessert House, Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes, Dspot, and Royaltea.

Okay, let’s start with the featured dessert from Cafe Princess Located in North York on Yonge & Finch. The thing about this place is the little exercise of stairs you have to go up on the second floor where it’s exactly located. What I got was the Jamoca Almond Fudge Cake. What I love about this tasting was how the chocolate notes and a hint of almond clashes together beautifully. It has layers of moist chocolate and coffee flavoured cake, with an espresso flavoured cream with almonds in between the layers and a chocolate ganache and whipped cream on top. To this day I still crave this cake because the flavours blend in deliciously if you were to have a very sweet tooth. This dessert is great for friend gatherings and dates.

Shortcake Waffle

The second dessert is from Pastel Creperie & Dessert House in North York located on Yonge and Byng Avenue. Once you come in you are greeted and you see a very pleasing array of different cakes they make in-house. What I got was a Shortcake Waffle that contained with strawberries, blueberries, cake chunks, and ice cream. This dessert is perfect for a date or sharing with a friend. It’s an eye-pleaser, but with simple ingredients. Again the presentation is very extravagant for a waffle, the service is great, and it’s the best place to visit anytime. They offer a variety of cakes, crepes with great flavours, cold drinks, and hot drinks. I’ll always go back to this place for the calm atmosphere and the waffle dessert.

fuwafuwa
Fuwa Fuwa Signature

The third place I’ve gone to was Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes located in The Annex on Bloor and Brunswick Avenue. Once you come into the store you’ll see that it’s quite small but cute for its size. The things they offer are the Japanese pudding, the matcha roll, and variety versions of the souffle pancake. Of course, I had the try the Fuwa Fuwa Signature which contains the fluffy pancake, strawberries, blueberries, banana, and the lightly sweetened whip cream they make in-house. To describe the flavour of the dish the pancake is made souffle to perfection, (legit it is) it’s very fluffy to the point that is satisfying and it made me the happiest being in the world. This place is great for friend gatherings and dates. I was very surprised by the texture and was pleased that it’s like eating clouds.

dspotstrawberryshortcake
Strawberry Shortcake

The third place to go is Dspot in Scarborough south of Lebovic Avenue. Once you arrive you will be seated. This dessert right here is the Strawberry Shortcake. It has layers of moist of white sponge cake layered with a mixture of ripe strawberries and fresh whipped cream topped with strawberry sauce, and with vanilla ice cream. This is one of the most nostalgic desserts I’ve ever had because when I was a kid I always had strawberries with cream and this dessert took it to the next level by being in a cake with ice cream. This place is great with families, friend gatherings, and dates.

taro slush from royaltea
Taro Slush with Cream

Last but not least is Royaltea in Downtown Chinatown on Spadina Avenue. What I got was a Taro Slush with cream. When you arrive at this building and it’s in a basement with nice seating. Hands down I think that Taro is the best flavour to be a bubble tea, but there are many different flavours that they offer, but I haven’t tried it yet. Someday I do want to try it. This place is really great to hang out with your friends and also to go on dates with a nice and mellow atmosphere.

You guys should try all the places out! I would definitely recommend it that you should try these delectable and delicious desserts. Thanks for reading!

Peter Thompson Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask – A Review

So I recently bought the Peter Thompson Roth Mask Frenzy, and I thought it would be too long of a post to review all 6 in one. So I decided to separate them and post each over time. The first one I’m starting with is the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask.

This is what the Sephora website claims it does:

What it is:
A powerful, triple-action exfoliator that uses aluminum oxide crystals, pumpkin enzymes, and an alpha hydroxy acid to reveal smooth, radiant skin.

Solutions for:
– Dullness and uneven texture
– uneven skin tone
– Pores

If you want to know more…
This powerful, triple-action, manual, chemical, and enzymatic exfoliating treatment addresses a dull, aging, and congested complexion in three ways: it exfoliates with pumpkin enzyme, reveals with alpha hydroxy acid, and polishes with aluminum oxide crystals. It also helps even the appearance of skin tone, smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and clarify to reveal skin that looks smoother, younger, radiant, and revitalized.”

And let me tell you, it does just that! When I first put it on my face felt like it was burning off just because it was sloughing away all the dead skin cells. But that feeling went away pretty quickly.

It’s a gritty consistency, like an exfoliator, so when you wash it off you get some good exfoliation in there. Plus it smells amazing, like fall in a mask LOL.

It goes on pretty thin, it’s not like it’s a clay mask where you can see a thick layer of stuff on your face. Here’s a shot of what it looks like on the face.

img_6208

And when I washed it off, my skin was absolutely GLOWING (and super smooth).Β  I think my skin looks radiant here. I love love love this mask! As for helping with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin, I can’t really comment on that because I haven’t used it enough times. But only time will tell! I’ll be sure to keep you all updated.

Dermarolling 101

So one of the best things you can do for your skin is micro-needling. It’s a process where they take a tiny little face roller with spikes and roll it over your face. It sounds super weird and painful (which it is but it’s not that bad though), but the purpose is to make tiny wounds in the skin so that when it heals you have fresher newer skin. It mainly helps with wrinkles and hyperpigmentation which is what I use it for. The best part is that it’s super inexpensive, you can order one of these rollers off amazon for like 12$! Keep in mind that I would stray away from it if you have any active acne on your face. This is just going to irritate it and spread the acne bacterias. But if it’s just for dark marks definitely go for it!

So the whole kit looks like this. You need rubbing alcohol and a bowl to soak the roller before you use it. You MUST do this or else you’re just spreading old bacteria all over your face.

img_6241

Then you have to clean your face really well, it’s recommended that you use rubbing alcohol with a cotton pad all over your face. It dries it out but I’d rather do that than risk getting pimples!

The next part is to start rolling! There are different levels of spikes that you can use, I think it goes 0.7mm, 0.5mm, and 1mm spikes. I use the 1mm roller because it gets deeper and you get better results. It hurts more but it’s so worth. The technique is to roll up and down one section of the face and then again horizontally. I do one cheek at a time and then the forehead. I don’t do near my eyes or lips or anything because I don’t have to worry about wrinkles there just quite yet.

img_6247

And then afterwards your face looks like a tomato. It doesn’t last all that long but you still look silly af!

img_6248

And after that you just continue on with your regular skincare routine! You need to do this every few weeks and keep up with it to see results, but I think it’s been really working for me!

My Favourite Essential Oils

Just like any basic girl in the world, I’m obsessed with essential oils. My favourite brand to buy them from is Saje, and lemme tell you it’s expensive but so worth it. I have a silver diffuser from that just goes perfect with my room decor.

I couldn’t resist buying the remedy bar that they have near the checkout. It just looks so adorable on my bed side table. One is for sleep, one is for energizing, one is to help with stress release, and my favourite of them all, Peppermint Halo, helps with headaches and let me tell you this shit works wonders. It obviously doesn’t remove the headache but the tingly feeling helps it so so much.

Then I have a set of loose oils that I put into my diffuser. I have lavender which is meant to be relaxing and help as a sleep aid. I have clary sage which just seems to give me a boost of energy whenever I diffuse it. I have Ylang Ylang which I bought because it claims to help with PMS symptoms, but realistically if you get bad PMS no essential oil in the world is gonna help ya girl. And finally, my most recent edition is the orange scent. With the winter grey days ahead I needed something to remind me of summer, and what’s better than a citrusy fruit!

And that’s my collection so far, but I’m sure it will grow very fast very soon πŸ˜‰

New Skincare Goodies – Sarah

In the spirit of Christmas, obviously I had to treat myself to a present. I’ve been super into skincare lately and Sephora has a lot of really good value skin sets, so I couldn’t resist LOL.

My first and most favourite think I got was the Peter Thompson Roth mask sampler. These masks are so expensive on their own, and here you get 6 for less than $100! It was too good to pass up.

img_6207

And the next item was an impulse buy. I bought the infamous watermelon sleeping mask that everyone has been raving about for a while. I’m interested to see if it’s as good as everyone says it is!

img_6205

Keep in mind this is just a haul, but I plan to do reviews on each of these in the future!

A Photo Collage – Happy Place

So about a month ago this exhibit called “Happy Place” came to Toronto (initially started in LA). And basically it’s just one amazing photo op after another, and I think my followers on insta are starting to get over my posts LOL. So I thought it would be cute to put them all here, and it’s perfect timing because you can still buy tickets if you’re in the GTA! Get them here –> https://www.happyplace.me/ available until Jan 6th!

My Current Skincare Routine – Sarah

So I can’t say that my skincare routine is all that glamorous at the moment. I used to be so much more into high end products and cool serums but as a working adult now I just don’t seem to have the time! I keep things super simple. So I’ve broken it down into a few categories.

Makeup Removers – Garnier Micellar Water: This is the only thing I will use, no wipe can ever compare to this stuff, it gets off pretty much everything! As you can see I clearly love is as it’s almost gone. However, when I do feel like using a wipe, I have these travel ones from Sephora that do the trick!

Next category is moisturizers. My skin is so weird, it’s both oily and dry at the same time so I have a weird mixture of moisturizers that I need to use.

The Neutrogena one is for my oily areas, the Dr. Jart cream is for my cheeks because they get super red and this one is supposed to help with redness. The Cetaphil is for when my skin just can’t figure its shit out and is flaking everywhere. It really does help the driest of skin. And finally, I use La Roche Posay eye creme. Yes I know it’s expensive but it’s what my parents have always used and I’m a creature of habit!

The next category is for acne products, because unfortunately I was cursed with terrible genes. My fave face wash for acne is the the Biore charcoal face wash. I just love the tingly feeling it gives me, it makes me feel like it’s really getting a deep clean. Of course I use the Mario Badescu drying lotion just like every other girl in the world. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a holy grail, but it’s just fun to put on and take silly pictures πŸ˜› Next in line is tea tree oil. This has been an herbal remedy for skin problems for ages, and plus I just love the way it smells and it can’t really do any harm! And finally, my dermatologist has prescribed me Retin-A. It essentially helps cell turnover to help get rid of acne and dark marks quicker when used over a long period of time. I just need to be better at being more consistent with it!

The next section of my collection is the toners. I love Pixi products, the glow mist smells so good and makes my skin feel so hydrated. The only problem is it’s oil based and I can’t use it all the time because I get eyelash extensions and oil based products make them fall out faster. So in those times I gravitate to the glow tonic or the lush tea tree water. I know tea tree is still oil I just try to cover my eyelids when I use it LOL.

My favourite part of skincare is the face masks. I’m not made of money (yet) and so I gravitate towards more affordable masks, like the L’oreal Clay masks. But just because they’re inexpensive, does not mean they don’t work. These things work wonders!! I love every single one and each colour helps with a different skin condition. I forget what each does now but it’s all available on the L’oreal website. Confessions of a lazy blogger LOL.

And that’s what I currently use on my face! I do other treatments like dermarolling and such but I think I want to do a separate post for that. So bye for now πŸ˜‰

My Christmas Room Tour – Sarah

So I know I said I was going to do a fall to winter transition for my room decor… but life got in the way and that did not happen LOL. But at least I get a chance to show you my Christmas decorations! Plus a mini room tour. (P.S. all these photos were taken pre-DSLR so I know the photos are shitty, but what can ya do).

So this is what you see when you first walk in.

img_6224

To the left of the you will see my makeup station and shelving system.

img_6225

And here is a closer look at my makeup station, I’ll probably end up doing a more detailed makeup collection later on. (I know it could use some organizing LOL)

img_6226

Next is the bedding, which I got from Anthropologie. They have the cutest bedding and housing accessories there I can’t deal.

img_6236

The next section of my room might be my favourite of them all, I call it my Zen area. First of all the drawers are amazingly cute (from Pier 1) and this is where I keep all my calming essential oils. My favourite brand to get them is from sage.

And here is where all the Christmas Goodies come in.

img_6229

Next is the bathroom, this is less exciting and not Christmasy at all, but I may as well show y’all!

And I think it’s worth showing you some of my favourite bath bombs and skincare items, but don’t you worry, a more detailed skincare routine is still to come!

And that’s it for now! I hope you enjoyed reading πŸ˜‰
