I Tried 3 Products From the Selena La Reina Collection – By Marisa Chiorello

Hey beautiful souls!

Recently, MAC introduced The Selena La Reina collection to honour 25 years of Selena Quintanilla’s legacy in music and Mexican culture. Thanks to Selena’s sister, Suzette this incredible collection is available online. While many shades of lipstick, lip gloss, and the eye shadow palette sold out within minutes, I was able to snag a few goodies! Let me just say, I am in love!

First, I purchased the “lipglass” in the shades of “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “Hey Dad Pizza!” I was a little apprehensive when it came to these shades. “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” is a bubblegum pink with a shimmer of silver. I was uncertain if this shade would compliment my skin tone. But, I thought I’d give it a try. “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” surprisingly complimented my tan skin tone with yellow undertones very well! The pink shade isn’t overpowering, like a Barbie pink; instead it’s subtle. I like the shimmer this gloss has, too!

The “lipglass” “Hey Dad Pizza!” is a brown, almost golden shade. At first, I believed this shade would look too much like my skin tone (I try to stay away from nudes and browns for that reason), but again I was pleasantly surprised! My lips were so shiny and golden; this may be my go-to shade! It’s the perfect shade for the summertime.

I have to say, I loved the packaging each “lipglass” came in! It’s holographic, with a pop of colour, and Selena’s signature. It’s such special packaging that I’m going to be keeping it forever, lol!

The last product I was able to purchase was the highlighter in the shade, “La Leyenda.” The pigment of this highlighter is outstanding, to say the least! It’s a glowing rose gold, which compliments any skin tone! This highlighter is also really easy to blend. If you want your cheekbones and nose to glow beautifully, this is your highlighter. It’s actually my new favourite highlighter.

Also, Selena’s iconic gem-incrusted bustier inspired the packaging of this highlighter. It’s super cute!

Unfortunately, almost every product is currently sold out. But, I’ll certainly be buying more if it’s restocked!

Let me know which one is your favourite!

Until next time,

Gel Nails at Home – Bossy Double UV Lamp

I am SO excited about this next post because I think I’ve finally mastered the art of nails at home. A while ago I posted my different attempts trying professional nails on my own. I tried both acrylic nails (where you have the liquid and powder that you make into a mixture yourself) which is really hard and not worth the time in my opinion, and I also tried dipping powder, which was easy but the nails fell off in like 2 days. I’ll link that post here if you want to read more about those processes.

https://livelifeintheflorallane.com/2019/02/25/at-home-professional-nails/

Now here I am trying gel nails, and it’s by far the easiest method I’ve tried, when I initially thought it was going to be the opposite (idk why it always just seemed the hardest?). The process takes about 2.5h which is the same as if you were to go to a salon, but at home you can take pee and snack breaks and also breaks for puppy/kitty cuddles in between ;).

Processed with VSCO with au5 preset

I first start by buffing off the old shelac colour and grinding it down to a smooth base before I apply the layer of gel. I then take a square flat nail brush, dip it into the gel and apply it on like I would any nail colour. I start from the base where the cuticles are and put a thicker layer where it needs to be refilled, then drag the gel up the rest of the nail. It’s a really thick gel and it’s super easy to work with, and if you make a mistake you can wipe it up and fix it before it hardens when you put it in the UV lamp.

Once the gel is done and hardened (I like to put it in the lamp for 2-3 round just to be extra safe) I switch up the head on my electric nail file so it’s not so harsh and we don’t buff off all the hard work we just did. I buff it down so it’s super smooth, file it to the shape I want it and now we’re ready to paint.

This part is super easy, you take the UV gel base, put it in the machine, put on whatever shelac colour you want, put it in the machine, and then finally put on your top coat and, yup you guessed it, put it in the machine LOL.

And that’s pretty much it! They turned out super nice and they lasted for a good three weeks before they grew out and I had to do my next refill.

This is by far my new favourite method of nails and I will never be spending money in a nail salon ever again! You can get these supplies at any nail supply store, and I think my total ended up being around $250 for the entire kit (which comes with 6 polishes).

Here is a picture of the final product for the past two attempts.

That’s it for now, I hope you enjoyed!

Silk’n ReVit Prestige – A Review

A while back a company named Silk’n Solutions was generous enough to send me their newest at home microdermabrasion device called the ‘ReVit Prestige’. I’ve been using it for about 2 months now and I feel like that’s enough time to give my honest opinions on it.

Firstly, here’s a picture of what the device looks like. It’s pretty slick and very easy to hold.

This is the first at home microdermabrasion device I’ve ever used, so unfortunately I can’t really compare it to others out there on the market, but I’ll let you know my personal experience with it and what it did for my skin.

Firstly, let’s take a look at what it claims to do. Their website describes it as

“a powerful microdermabrasion device that can give you firm and vital skin that looks younger in only several minutes. Dead skin cells are removed, and the production of new skin cells is stimulated. The skin texture and elasticity are visibly improved. The vacuum stimulation enhances the blood circulation for a healthy complexion. In addition, Silk’n ReVit Prestige makes irregularities, shallow acne scars and age spots less visible and helps soften large pores and fine lines.”

Their website also outlines the specific benefits it can have on your skin.

ReVit Prestige Microdermabrasion Benefits:

  • Ultra-powerful microdermabrasion device with diamond peeling
  • Improves skin tone, texture and elasticity*
  • Blurs age spots, irregularities in the skin and shallow acne scars
  • Removes dead skin cells, stimulates the production of new cells and stimulates the blood circulation
  • Can be used in manual mode, but also provides an auto mode that will guide you through your treatment for best results
  • Includes: 4 tips (Fine, Regular, Body, Massage), 30 filters, 1 stand/charging cradle, 1 adapter with USB cable, 1 cleaning brush and 1 pouch

So…did it really live up to all of that? I would say yesss!! I don’t particularly have overly large pores to begin with, and fine lines are not really a skin concern of mine yet (fingers crossed lol), so I can’t speak to how it works for those particular skin concerns. However, my acne scars have significantly reduced and my skin texture just looks and feels smoother. You can totally tell that’s the case especially when applying my makeup, everything just seems to go on smoother and nicer!

Now I’ve only tested out the one head (there are 4 different tips you can use depending on what area of the body you’re working on). I’ve just stuck to the regular head and that’s been working just fine for me.

In general, I think this device is helping to reduce the overall amount of acne that I usually get since it does a really good job of cleaning out your pores. My co-workers have noticed that my skin has been more glowy lately and I believe it is due to the stimulation of blood circulation as well as the intense exfoliation that occurs when using this device.

As much as I love the ReVit Prestige, I have a few words of caution for y’all. USE AS DIRECTED! I was using level two as my intensity and I left the suction on some spots on my face for a touch too long, and I ended up with a bunch of tiny face hickies in various spots! The key it to keep the device moving and not focus on one spot for too long. Oh well you live and learn! This was 100% a user error, learn from me folks HA!

Other than that small hiccup, this microdermabrasion device has been nothing but a dream for my skin! It retails at $199.00 and I totally recommend and encourage all of you to pick one up if you can!

My Experience With Plastic Surgery and Fillers

This is a post I’ve been hesitant to write for a while just because I know people are very divided on the topic. I know some people say that you should just be happy in your own skin and learn to love yourself. But like just because I didn’t like my nose doesn’t mean I didn’t love myself LOL. I legit was just unhappy with my nose for years, and if I had the funds to make a change, then why not. I went to Dr. Torgerson located in Yorkville and that man has magic fingers I swear, every patient of his comes out looking fab.

Facial Plastic Surgery & Laser Centre – Toronto

I got it as my University Graduation present on May 1st 2018. And while the month of May was probably the worst month of my life (bloody loogies, not being able to breath out of your nose, dry mouth etc.) I would do it 1000 times over again I had to. I absolutely LOVE my nose and I’m 10 times more confident when I go out. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but when when I look prettier I feel happier.

I’ll insert some before and after pics right here.

The best picture is right after it happened and my face was all swollen and bruised. It is just hilarious to me!

IMG_2428

One thing to note is that when cartilage heals, it heals very bumpy. My nose had different bumps in various places on different days, it was quite strange! They say it takes up to a full year for everything to be completely healed.

And I wish I could say it stopped there, but it didn’t LOL. I have never really been a fan of my butt chin, so for my birthday present to myself this year I got a little bit of a filler in my chin to get rid of the dent and elongate my face just a little. I’ll insert pictures below.

IMG_4535

And finally, I wouldn’t be a millennial girl if I din’t try lip fillers at least once. I went to this place called “New You” and Yonge and Davisville which had a deal where you could get 50% off your first filler treatment. And they called her the ‘Lip Doctor’ and rightfully so because I absolutely love them! I told her I didn’t want to change the shape of my lips just make them a little more plump all around, which I think she did perfectly. I had these done in September 2018 and they are still holding up strong!

Home

Now I really wanted to be honest in this blog, I’ve never once given the impression to any of my friends or followers that I didn’t get any of this stuff done. I believe in complete honesty and that you should own up to your shit. I’m not ashamed of what I’ve had done, and I don’t think it’s something that others should judge me for too. We’re all just people trying to be happy and make a name for ourselves in this world so lets try to keep the love okay ❤

Some people will probably say oh it’s because she lives in the Kardashian generation and wants to be fake like all the other celebrities out there. And it’s extremely plausible that that influences me in some way, being a girl in 2019 it’s almost impossible to avoid these images and messages. But these are things I’ve wanted for years, not just because the Kardashians told me so. I always say that people who are judgmental are just unhappy with something in their life, so I try not to listen to any negativity that I get.

I understand that I’m extremely fortunate to be able to afford all these things, and I am forever grateful that I made these decisions in my early 20’s. My surgeon said the most common ages to get these procedures done is early 20’s right before your adult life starts, and after 40 when all their kids have grown up. So in my mind, why wait??

An OOTD – Channelling My Inner Cher

Photo 2019-05-05, 10 51 51 AMOlder fashion is making its way to 2019! I was super inspired to do the whole 70’s hippie look, and I swear someone said I could be Cher’s little sister…What a compliment! Here is my outfit from head to toe.

Hair – Bellami Hair extensions (Magnifica in Mochachino Brown)

Purse: Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C in Burgundy

You like? My hair? Gee Thx, Just Bought it.

I’m gonna keep this short and sweet because I feel like a lot of the people who read this blog are already pretty familiar with hair extensions. But I still think it might be useful to some to share my experience.

So I bought them from Bellami Hair just like every Youtuber and their Mother LOL. It just seemed to be the most talked about so I thought I would give it a go. I was torn between what colour to get. I was originally interested in the ‘Bellisima’ in off black, but I was a little low on money back then so I waited. THANK GOD I waited because they came out with a new shade just recently which is a legitimate PERFECT match for my hair. I ended up getting the ‘Magnifica 24inches’ in ‘Mochachino Brown’.

Magnifica 240g 24" Mochachino Brown (1C) Hair Extensions

Let me tell you they are so easy to put in, just clip the top half of your hair up (or get your boyfriend to hold it like I do :P) and simply clip them in onto the under layer, making sure the clips don’t poke through. Then just brush it all together, style, and voila!

Before I got these I was in an internal debate between getting clip ins or tape ins (the more permanent ones), but I decided that it was too much of a hassle and I didn’t necessarily want them in all the time, so I opted for clip ins. Not to mention the tape ins from Bellami are CRAZY expensive, not worth it to me.

Do any of you use hair extensions, and if so what brands do you recommend?!

Elon Novac – The Brand that Gives Back

A while ago this brand named ‘Elon Novac’ reached out to me on instagram for a business opportunity. They offered my the CUTEST WATCH for a discounted price, and it actually works well and is comfortable on the wrist.

I don’t just promote any brand that reached out to me (ya girl’s got morals y’all) but this particular brand stood out to me and I’ll tell you why.

Their personal website quotes “Elon Novac understands the importance of giving back. For every 100 watches purchased, Elon Novac pledges to support a child in a developing country by providing them with an education. Join our family to help make a difference in the societies that need it most.”

https://elonnovac.com/

Now I know they are a little pricey for a brand that’s not super well known, but the cause itself is something to get behind!

PLUS: If you want a discount on any of these watches you can use code ‘Sarah20’ for 30% off your order! Seems pretty worth it to me!

You get a cute watch, and the proceeds go to charity, it’s honestly a win win!

Let me know in the comments if you end up purchasing one, it would really mean a lot to me!

Makeup Collection – Lip Products

This is the next instalment of my makeup collection series, it’s now time for LIPS! I have to be honest, buying lip products was never really my thing seeing as when I was younger most of my efforts when into covering my pimply skin, so lips were last on my priority. But I would say that I have developed at least enough of a collection that is worth showing the world 😛

1. (1)

  1. Makeup Forever Mini Lipstick – I’m not sure the name but I’m fairly certain most of ya’ll have it because it was a Sephora B-day gift one year 😛
  2. Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in ‘Beauty Mark’
  3. Buxom lip gloss in “White Russian” (my all time fave btw)
  4. Mac Lipstick in ‘Diva’
  5. Too faced melted liquid lipstick ‘Cool Girl’
  6. Mac lipliner in ‘Nightmoth’
  7. Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in ‘Corset’
  8. Smashbox mini lipgloss (I’m sorry I don’t see a name!)
  9. Benefit ‘Cha Cha’ Tint balm
  10. Nars lipgloss in ‘Turkish Delight’
  11. Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in ‘Embellishment’
  12. Benefit ‘Posie Tint’ Balm
  13. Revlon balm stick in ‘005’ (crush)
  14. Benefit ‘Benetint’ lip balm
  15. Mac lip stick in ‘Desire’
  16. Annabelle lip liner in shade ‘Cherry’

And of course I have more lip products but these were the only ones I really use on a regular basis so I didn’t feel like showing those other ones as it wouldn’t be true to my routine.

I’m definitely lacking in the lip product department and I am in the mood for more! So if you have any ride or die lip products that you love please share in the comments!!

XOXO
